If you have diabetes or high blood pressure, check your kidney function every year. If your doctor does not offer testing, ask for it.

Serum Creatinine1 0.8-1.4 mg/dL
Albumin to Creatinine Ratio2 Less than 30 mg/gm
Glomerular Filtration Rate3 60 ml/min/1.7 m2 or higher
*May be different for people with diabetes.

1. Measures creatinine (waste) in the blood
2. Estimates the amount of protein in the urine in a day
3. Estimates kidney function
